Facebook & Wheelchair Vans - The Connection
I recently read somewhere that Americans spend an average of 2 hours per day on Facebook keeping up with their social lives - while they're at work! That's certainly a lot of lost productivity when you add it all up. It seems people would rather work on their farm in Farmville or play Mafia Wars rather than . . . oh, I don't know . . . do their jobs!
So I've got to come clean with a confession: I personally spend even MORE time than that at work on social media sites like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Now, before the nice folks from BraunAbility's Human Resources Department come knocking on my door, I'd better explain: I'm not farming or whacking mafioso's - I'm actually connecting with and helping BraunAbility wheelchair van and wheelchair lift owners around the country and the world.
The BraunAbility Facebook page has been active for just over 10 months, and we've already connected with over 1,000 people in that time - and more join us every day! You'll find all kinds of "inside" information about the company - new product announcements, historical photos, and you can even see photos and video of one of our Toyota handicap vans being built from start to finish. Customers frequently post questions about their mobility vans, and we're always quick to respond with an answer. Facebook has turned out to be a terrific way for customers to stay in touch with us. If you haven't already, please visit our page and become a fan. You'll meet a lot of fellow wheelchair users and you might even learn a thing or two.
Another great success is the BraunAbility YouTube channel. At the latest count, I'm happy to say our videos have been viewed over 22,000 times. You'll find product information, customer testimonials, and "behind the scenes" looks at manufacturing and engineering. Reading about our mobility products online is great, but there's nothing like seeing them in action in a video. And we're adding more every day - you can subscribe to our channel to keep up with the latest offerings.
Business or Fun?
Facebook and the other social media sites are definitely for business. After all, BraunAbility is about accessibility, and these sites have made us more accessible to our customers than ever before. But I'm also happy to say that our work with social media is a whole lot of fun too - we've met some incredible people over the past year, and they've all helped remind us of what our jobs are really about: getting people back on the road and helping them get on with their lives. I have to say, at the end of the day, that's a pretty good feeling.
So please come join us - we're looking forward to meeting you!
