AbilityVoice: a blog about mobility topics

Their story of love and devotion touched hearts across the country. Last night,BraunAbility and longtime dealerMobility Works teamed up to donate awheelchair van to recent American Idol contestant Chris Medina and his fiancee Juliana Ramos...all to make the next chapter of their love story and Juliana's recovery a little easier.

"Thank you just doesn't cut it. This will bring back better quality to our lives."

Juliana was involved in a car accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury. The accident occurred in October of 2009, just two months before she and Chris were to be married. Chris has stayed by her side as her primary caregiver along with her mother.

That love and devotion...not to mention Chris's soulful voice...are part of why Idol fans and the judges fell in love with him. In fact, the much-publicized breakdown came from having to tell Chris he'd reached the end of the road on Idol. While his time with Idol came to a close, the experience raised awareness about Juliana and her needs. Aside from the wheelchair van, fans have donated over $190,000 to the couple.

"Thank you just doesn't cut it," said Chris, as he thanked representatives from BraunAbility and Mobility Works for the 2010 DodgeEntervan. "This will bring back better quality to our lives."
