Laurie Hollander and Marybeth Vandergrift were best friends who, like many other Americans in the wake of September 11, 2001, felt the need to give back to veterans who were coming back from the war and had been severely injured while protecting our basic freedoms. They created Help Our Military Heroes, hosting a Spin-a-thon and, in the first four hours, raised $70,000, which they put toward the donation of an ADA accessible vehicle for a Wounded Warrior returning from Iraq.

In December of 2009, Help Our Military Heroes was founded. Since its inception, it has awarded dozens of adapted vehicles to our nation’s veterans.

Laurie and Marybeth were honored with the Ralph W. Braun Spirit of Ability Award for their giving spirits and unwavering dedication to our veteran population.
