Mobility Innovations

Mobility Innovations right hand controls are considered the premier hand control for reasons of quality, ease of use and appearance in the vehicle.

The Veigel Detroit Electronic Left Hand Control (ELHC) has been designed for ease of function, more leg room and smoother acceleration for the driver. By removing the accelerator rod and adding a preprogrammed accelerator sensor, acceleration is now 100% electronic. With the Veigel Detroit Electronic Push Right Angle you push forward to brake and push down towards your lap to accelerate. Also available in a non-electronic version.

The Push/Rock hand control is operated by rocking it back and downward toward the driver to accelerate and pushing the handle forward toward the dashboard to brake. It is available with an upright handle or our standard handles to custom fit you and your driving style. Built MPS strong and also carries our 5yr warranty.

With the Veigel Detroit Push/Pull you pull the handle towards the body. To brake, you always push forward. The unique feature of the Push/Pull style hand control is the separate motion for acceleration and brake. This means the accelerator and brake cannot be used simultaneously, making it a safer choice for older drivers. This option is available in a non-electronic version.

This Veigel right hand control is considered the premier hand control for reasons of quality, ease of use and apearance in the vehicle. With the Veigel 4120 Classic II you push to brake, turn to accelerate. The unique accelerator motion allows the driver to adjust the seat close to the hand control without affecting operation.

With the Veigel 4220 Compact II you push to brake, pull to accelerate. The unique push pull motion prevents simultaneous use of the gas and brake making it a good choice for older drivers and drivers with neural deficits. This Veigel right hand control is considered a premier hand control for reasons of quality, ease of use and appearance in the vehicle.

With the Veigel 4300 Basic you push to brake, pull to accelerate. The 4300 Basic is designed to be a low cost alternative to the 4220 Compact II. By eliminating the decorative cover the Basic offers the same function and quality at a reduced price. Also available: 4300 Basic with Tri-pin and switches.

Electronic Mobility Controls (EMC)

United Access now offers the VMI iClass™ Split wheelchair lift. This is one of the industry’s more popular solutions because of its flexibility and versatility. Its defining feature is that it folds up and out of the way with the touch of a button. The iClass is unique in that it allows for easy rear or side-entry and exit. This heavy duty platform lift holds up to 1,000 lbs.

That utilizes a multi-axis joystick input device. Motion in the X-axis is for Steering and the Y-axis motion is for Gas & Brake. The exposed height of the joystick is approximately 4.25″ and an angular displacement, or range, of only 50 degrees is required to move the input from the full left steer position to full right steer or from the full gas position to full brake. As with all AEVIT® Gas & Brake systems, the Gas & Brake input direction can be programmed by your Dealer to be either gas forward or brake forward.

The WL-Series is a Gas, Brake & Steering system that utilizes the same wheel input device as the W-Series for Steering and the same lever input device as the L-Series for Gas & Brake. These input devices are designed to be mounted on each side/w-series/ of the driver. However, they are interchangeable so that the system can be tailored for right or left hand steering.

The XL-Series is a Gas, Brake & Steering system that utilizes two separate control inputs. A joystick constrained to the X-axis (same as the X-Series) is used as the Steering input and a lever input device (same as the L-Series) is used for operation of the Gas & Brake.

The XY-Series is a Gas, Brake & Steering system that utilizes two separate control inputs. A joystick input device constrained to motion in the X-axis is used for Steering (same as the X-Series) and a separate joystick input device constrained to motion in the Y-axis is for Gas & Brake (same as the Y-Series). This system is well suited for persons requiring joystick control but able to utilize dual input devices.

The WY-Series is a Gas, Brake & Steering system that utilizes two separate control inputs. A wheel input device is provided for Steering (same as the W-Series) and a Y-axis joystick for Gas & Brake (same as the Y-Series). This system is well suited for persons requiring extremely low-effort Gas & Brake control and a miniature low-effort steering wheel.

The AEVIT 2.0® L-Series is a Gas & Brake only system that utilizes a lever input device. The exposed lever height is 2.5″ and the device requires a maximum input force that can be adjusted from approximately 2.4 – 5.0 lbs. The total angular displacement, or range, of the lever from the full gas position to full brake is 90 degrees. Two (2) horizontally opposed internal dampeners provide the return-to-center mechanism and produce a smooth feel that can be adjusted independently for both the Gas and Brake direction.

The Y-Series is a Gas & Brake only system that utilizes a single axis joystick input device. The joystick is constrained to motion only in the Y-axis, thus the nomenclature Y. The exposed height of the joystick is approximately 4.25” and an angular displacement, or range, of only 50 degrees is required to move the input from the full gas position to full brake. The mechanism is extremely low-effort, requiring a maximum input force of only 0.2 lbs, and is internally spring loaded to return to the center, or null, position.

The W-Series is a Steering only system that utilizes a miniature 5″ diameter wheel input device, and is the favorite amongst 2-handed drivers for ease of use. The total number of rotations from full left steer to full right steer is 5-6.7 turns depending upon the vehicle. This equates to an approximate 2:1 ratio between the W-Series input device and the OEM steering wheel. The input force required to turn the wheel is approx. 0.2 lbs. as measured at the proper orthotic position of 3.4″ from center.

Is a Steering only system that utilizes a single axis joystick input device. The exposed height of the joystick is approximately 4.25” and an angular displacement, or range, of only 50 degrees is required to move the input from the full left steer position to full right. The mechanism is extremely low-effort, requiring a maximum input force of only 0.2 lbs, and is internally spring-loaded to return to the center, or null, position. The joystick is coupled internally to 3-independent and redundant electronic devices for unsurpassed safety and reliability.

The Brake Only Hand Control enables the driver to apply the brakes by hand. Through mechanical linkage, the brake is applied by a forward motion away from the driver toward the brake pedal or dash board. The Brake Only Hand Control is suitable for a driver who has right foot mobility for acceleration.

The Monarch Mark IA hand control incorporates the most popular method of operation, and undoubtedly the least fatiguing available. Through mechanical linkage, the brakes are applied by the forward motion away from the driver toward the brake pedal or dashboard. The gas or accelerator is applied by a downward movement toward the driver’s lap and at a right angle to the brake. This quality hand control comes with our easy to use accelerator lock out that when engaged locks out the accelerator function of the hand control so drivers using the pedals cannot use the hand control.

Sure Grip

United Access now offers the VMI iClass™ Split wheelchair lift. This is one of the industry’s more popular solutions because of its flexibility and versatility. Its defining feature is that it folds up and out of the way with the touch of a button. The iClass is unique in that it allows for easy rear or side-entry and exit. This heavy duty platform lift holds up to 1,000 lbs.

Unlike other hand controls styles, the push/rock system puts the operating handle in a vertical position; the driver eases the handle back to accelerate and pushes forward to brake. This unique rocking motion allows full-range braking and acceleration with minimal hand travel while keeping the hand in a natural position. Sure Grip’s Push/Rock controls are known for having the easiest gas in the industry today thus, allowing for hours of fatigue free driving.

Unlike other Push Right/Angle controls, the Sure Grip Push Right/Angle’s body doesn’t pivot or move when the accelerator is applied. The pivot point for the Sure Grip control is on the left-hand side of the wheel, and only the handle pivots. AutoLock is an accelerator lock-out device that comes standard on all of Sure Grip’s hand controls, and is an added safety feature for the driver or those that share the vehicle.

The Sure Grip Push/Pull hand control uses the same movement to apply the gas and brake as other Push/Pull controls; however the pivot point for the Sure Grip control is on the left-hand side of the wheel close to the handle, this allows for a shorter stroke and greater leverage. In addition to the pivot point, the handles position is at a slight angle, an angle that makes a big difference to the driver.

The Sure Grip Push/Twist control uses the same motorcycle style acceleration as other Push/Twist controls, but has an auxiliary handle that makes the twisting motion easier and allows for longer, more comfortable driving. In addition to the unique benefits enjoyed with our other hand controls, such as increased leg room and ease of use. Superior pedal feel offer constant acceleration and no “dead spots.”

Sure Grip’s Push/Rock right side controls are known for having the easiest gas in the industry today thus, allowing for hours of fatigue free driving. Unlike other hand controls styles, the push/rock system puts the operating handle in a vertical position; the driver eases the handle back to accelerate and pushes forward to brake. This unique rocking motion allows full-range braking and acceleration with minimal hand travel while keeping the hand in a natural position.

Unlike other Push/Right Angle controls, the Sure Grip Push/Right, right-hand side, does not pivot or move when the accelerator is applied. The pivot point for the Sure Grip control is on the right hand side of the wheel, and only the handle pivots. A stationary main body offers drivers a stationary brake rod, no "in your lap" issues and an extremely short throw.
