Nick Franiak - Manufacturing Engineer
In the fall of 2005, I joined BraunAbility as a Technical Writer and Illustrator. Coming from a mechanical and construction background, it was a different medium to be sitting behind a computer and to put together the literature for both the lift side of the business as well as the various vehicle conversions (and on a Mac none the less!). Since then, I have moved into three groups currently - The Standard Operating Procedures Group, The Lean Team and involvement in a Manufacturing Engineering group for the commercial Chrysler Entervan line. Being involved in all three of these groups gives me the opportunity to learn and work with many people and departments and numerous products lines, concepts and theories. Outside of BraunAbility, you will find me residing in the rural community of Francesville with my wife Sarah, our four children and two weimaraners (they actually think they are kids too!). I am currently in the process of finishing my engineering degree at Purdue, and you can still find me "pounding nails" on the weekends doing odd construction jobs in the area (it adds a nice balance opposed to being behind a desk all week). Additionally, we run the local cub scout pack, are involved in our church music program and in the summer you can find me on the little league fields coaching the kids in my favorite sport, baseball (here's to hoping for next year for the Cubbies!). When I am not doing the above, you can more than likely find me in my little garage workshop, attempting to build cabinets and furniture!
