Tips for Planning a Trip in Your Wheelchair Van

Posted by Justin on Thursday, February 12th, 2009

One concern that is often expressed to me is “what if I am on vacation, and my wheelchair van or wheelchair lift breaks down?”  This is especially a concern if you are traveling long distances by yourself, and your freedom depends on your mobility equipment working properly.  Here are some tips you may want to look into if this is a concern of yours.

First, BraunAbility has a large network of dealers located in all fifty states and Canada. If you are planning a long distance road trip and want to map out Braunability locations along the way, simply call 1-800-THE-LIFT.  Have zip codes or city names handy, and we can search dealers in that area.

Secondly, you may want to speak to your selling dealer. Many dealers cooperate with each other in order to coordinate repairs and they may have usefull suggestions if you are taking a trip.

Lastly, always remember that you can have your lift or van serviced and/or repaired at any authorized BraunAbility dealer. You don’t have to worry about being denied service if you are not able to get to your selling dealer. This also applies to any work that would be done under warranty. Lets say you purchased your handicap van in New York and you are on vacation in California. There are a number of California dealers who could provide the same services for your wheel chair van as the original dealer you worked with.

Hopefully this knowledge will give you peace of mind, so don’t hesitate to hit the road in your Entervan or Rampvan!

At M.C. we hear this concern often. Of course, being in business since 1985, we have made a lot of contacts thru our daily work and thru NMEDA. We recommend that clients use the NMEDA website also to find reputable dealers in the areas that they travel.
