A Wheelchair Van for Vivianna

If you have had the pleasure of meeting this sweet, little girl named Vivianna (a.k.a Vivi), you would know that she leaves a lasting impression on those with whom she comes in contact. It doesn’t matter what kind of day she is having, she will always find a way to give you her award-winning smile. Her smile is contagious, and you can’t help but be drawn in by her warm personality. Along with her happy smile, Vivianna has gorgeous curly hair and is growing up faster than Mom and Dad can believe.

Vivianna is seven years old and has Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, vision impairment, and was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. She is medically fragile, is nonverbal, and 100% dependent on others to meet her wants and needs. As a result of Cerebral Palsy, she spends the majority of her time in a wheelchair. As a special needs family, they are always on the go. Between transporting her to school, therapy appointments, and doctor’s visits, some as far away as San Diego. Because of this, Vivianna spends a lot of time in the car. Although she may still be their little girl, Vivianna is definitely growing. Prior to having a van modified for wheelchair accommodations, her parents had to pick her up and place her in a car seat. As she gets taller and heavier, this became more difficult to do safely for both Vivianna and her parents.

Since having their van wheelchair modified, Vivianna has had more access to her community and is enjoying every minute of it. Vivianna and her family can now wheel her into the van and go anywhere they want without having to worry about her comfort and safety. She has been able to easily go shopping with her Mom and of course, this brings out that big smile she is ever so famous for. In addition to the ease of transportation, Vivianna is now provided with a safe and discrete place to be changed when needed.

With all the things she has been through, she has always found a way to smile. Have a wheelchair-accessible van has been an amazing addition to her life and will continue to provide her with more opportunities to be involved in her community, to grow as an individual, and enjoy all the things that a beautiful little girl should. This family is grateful to all those who made it possible for them to build more and more memories thanks to functional transportation.
