Chariots for Children Brings Mobility to the Houston Area

“Our Kids are Everybody’s Kids” is the mission and commitment of the Houston Children’s Charity. Located in the Greater Houston, Texas area, Houston Children’s Charity (HCC) is a beacon of hope for children with disabilities and their families. As a non-profit organization, HCC’s mission is to improve the quality of life for underprivileged, abused, and disabled children. Their efforts are dedicated to ensuring no legitimate request for assistance goes unanswered.

Since 2015, United Access has built a valued relationship with Houston Children’s Charity through their program “Chariots for Children” and beyond. This heartwarming program provides selected families the gift of mobility with a new wheelchair accessible van. The wheelchair accessible vans Houston Children’s Charity donates are provided through United Access. The impact of this event changes the lives of many families every year.

Gifting Mobility with Chariots for Children

For children with disabilities, the simple act of transportation can often present numerous challenges. The children and their families can face transportation difficulties that limit their ability to access basic medical care, educational resources, and recreational activities. That's where Houston Children's Chairity’s program Chariots for Children shines.

Since 1996, HCC's Chariots for Children initiative has awarded an impressive 283 life-altering chariots to both agencies and individual families. The chariots delivered are wheelchair accessible vans equipped with specialized features that enable safe and efficient transportation for children with disabilities, along with their families and caregivers. This is where the team at United Access in Houston and Pasadena steps into this special day.

The Wheelchair Accessible Vans Houston Children’s Charity Provides

In 2015, United Access’s Texas teams began their partnership with Houston Children’s Charity. The Houston and Pasadena teams at United Access work hard alongside the HCC team to ensure this special day runs smoothly. This collaboration has allowed HCC to expand its reach and impact, ensuring that more families in need receive the gift of mobility.

Through United Access, Houston Children's Charity facilitates the delivery of wheelchair accessible vans to sponsored families. These vans become a lifeline for children and their families, granting them newfound independence and empowering them to lead fulfilling lives.

On the day of the Chariots for Children event, our teams deliver vans to Willie G’s Seafood Restaurant in Houston. As the day begins, there is a ceremony to introduce and gift the accessible vehicles to the sponsored children and their families. Once the families receive their new wheelchair accessible vans, our team guides them through learning how to use their new vehicle.

The impact of Houston Children's Charity's partnership with United Access extends beyond providing accessible vehicles. By addressing the crucial issue of transportation, HCC fuels a chain reaction of positive change in the lives of these children and their families.

Wheelchair Vans Change Lives

The independence the wheelchair accessible vans provide to the children and their families allows them to access vital medical services with ease, ensuring they receive the care they need promptly. It also facilitates their education, allowing them to attend schools that cater to their unique needs, fostering inclusivity and educational growth.

Additionally, these vans give families the opportunity to enjoy recreational activities together, creating cherished memories and strengthening their bond. By breaking down barriers and enabling participation in community events, Houston Children's Charity revolutionizes the lives of these deserving children, helping them overcome the limitations imposed by their disabilities.

Houston Children's Charity, in collaboration with United Access, is empowering underprivileged, abused, and disabled children. Through their Chariots for Children program, countless lives have been transformed, opening doors to an improved quality of life, independence, and endless possibilities.
