Our good friends at the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA), a partner of BraunAbility and voice of the mobility industry, are sponsoring another great contest event. May is National Mobility Awareness month, and nobody recognizes it like NMEDA does with its Local Heroes contest. The Local Heroes contest seeks to recognize people (some with physical disabilities) who make a difference in their community. The winners of the contest receive mobility vehicles to help them reach out and continue to build the communities that they serve!
This year’s contest will be a little different. Four wheelchair-accessible vehicles will be awarded, one for each of four categories: caregiver, senior (60+), battery-powered for in-town driving, and the general category.
NMEDA defines local heroes as individuals who volunteer, educate, advocate, achieve, and persevere. They also shares the following: “Over 18 million people in North America are living with restrictive mobility issues. This is your chance to change the lives of just a few of those triumphing in the face of adversity.”
NMEDA begins accepting submissions on Wednesday, April 15, with voting going from May 1-31.
Are you a local hero? Do you know someone who is? Now is the time to start making your video, building community support, and showing love for your community!
