Ability Center is top notch when it comes to providing service on mobility vehicles. We had a situation in which we needed to modify an already converted vehicle and their team could not have been more efficient and helpful. Javier spoke to us on the phone prior to us dropping off the vehicle and let us know that he felt his team would be able to resolve our issue. Pam, who is simply a delight to work with, helped us set up three separate appointments to resolve our issue on three different vehicles. Cody was the technician and installer who did the physical work. He called us throughout the process to ensure it would satisfy our needs and then meticulously and strategically placed the equipment where it would maximize our customer satisfaction while also providing outstanding utility. Couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome, and we are very grateful for their courteous and personable service. Thank you Ability Center Tucson ! - Zach

Since I met Christine years ago, she has made me feel at home and I just knew our needs would be met. She and her entire staff have bent over backwards to make a car purchase easy and smooth. They truly want all families to have the best equipment for their specific needs. Vans were brought to our home to check driveways, etc. This is an exceptional place of business!!

There are no complaints here ! These people are professionals.I've been disabled for 11 years now and that's how long I've been going to Ability Center. They welcome you with open arms. They taught me how to use hand controls in the begining and are still with me every step of the way. The entire staff makes one hell of a team. These are good, friendly people who care about you.

We love Chris and Ozzie. They are the epitome of patience and boy we needed patience. Our jazzy was taking much longer to get here because of multiple problems with production. They could have sold the car we wanted many times over, but they didn't. Good people to deal with.
Absolutely love working with Pam on behalf of my friend Louis! They are very generous with us and always helpful and up-front about rental logistics. There is a true community atmosphere with Ability Center and I am grateful to be a part of that community! (and not just because I can get Milky Way bars from Pam's desk) Pam is very real with us, offering high quality rental vans and personalized, customized customer service; it does not feel like trying to work through some impersonal, removed company.

Christine and the whole staff were so helpful when I needed to find a mobility van quickly. They spent time explaining the vehicle, how everything worked and even after I purchased it, they continued to be available for any questions or concerns I had. I never felt pressured or rushed. Great experience working with them!

Ability center was just amazing. The staff from the front desk to technicians to maintenance were wonderful. Everyone was very knowledgeable and worked with me to get exactly what I needed. Ability center gives freedom back to people with mobility limitations. Pam was working the front desk, she was a wonderful start to my experience with this company. Christine is the manager and is extremely friendly. She explained every step and was a great contact for questions. Coty was my technician and the hand controls he placed are just perfect. Everything inside the van looked like it could have come with it off the manufacturers line. I am extremely happy with my experience with Ability Center and 100% recommend them to anyone who needs modifications to their vehicles!

Frequently Asked Questions

Ability Center is your local resource for all things accessibility. Whether you’re looking for new wheelchair vans for sale or wondering what handicap vehicle services we offer, you can find the answers here.

Accessible minivans, also known as wheelchair vans or ramp vans, have been remanufactured to offer unparalleled ease of access for wheelchair and scooter users. The floor has been substantially lowered and the van equipped with a lightweight ramp for easy entry and exit. A kneeling system lowers the rear suspension, decreasing the slope of the ramp even further when deployed. Both front seats are removable, enabling wheelchair users to drive or ride in the passenger position.

Ability Center offers several mobility conversions to meet a variety of budgets. We will carefully assess your needs and recommend the right vehicle in your price range.

Possibly, but certain conditions must be met. Only certain makes and models can be converted. Additionally, the vehicle must have less than 30,000 miles, and is subject to inspection before the conversion process can begin.

While this can sometimes work, we recommend contacting us at Ability Center before purchasing a van. If you visit a car dealership first, you risk purchasing a vehicle that cannot be converted because it is the wrong model – or it may be the right model but not equipped with the right options. At Ability Center, we can help guide you through the process, we can even work with your preferred car dealer to ensure you purchase the right equipment. Often, you may find the perfect vehicle sitting at Ability Center already converted and ready for delivery.

No. The sturdy aluminum ramp is just one aspect of the major remanufacturing required to create a wheelchair van. Teams of skilled technicians work together to produce fully-integrated conversions with lowered floors and reconfigured seating.

Due to the lack of head clearance, a minivan lift is not an application that can be used for an adult. Adults need the extra headroom provided by a fully converted accessible vehicle to ride comfortably and safely. In certain cases, however, a minivan lift can be a good solution for pediatric chair users.

Ability Center backs the quality craftsmanship of their minivans with an exclusive Three-Year Limited Warranty – the best the industry has to offer. On top of that, the chassis is covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty.

At Ability Center, we understand the importance of maintenance and service of your accessible vehicle and its specialized equipment and we are committed to providing our customers with the availability of service. Our highly trained and certified service technicians are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality service in the vehicle modification industry. All of our locations are also QAP (Quality Assurance Program) certified through the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA), meaning that Ability Center is held to the highest standards in the accessible vehicle industry.

Whether you are a long-time customer coming in for routine operational maintenance of the equipment you have in your modified vehicle, or a new customer who needs adaptive equipment installed on your vehicle, we will do our best to get you back on the road as quickly and safely as possible. It doesn’t matter if you bought it from us or elsewhere, at Ability Center we want to make sure that your vehicle is always working for you.

Buying an accessible van from Ability Center is the best way to assure you will seldom need repairs. If you do, however, we will likely have the necessary replacement parts on hand for a quick turn-around. If not, we can usually get the parts we need the next business day so you can get back on the road right away.

Ability Center maintains a stock of minivans converted and ready for immediate delivery. You will have a choice of chassis and ramp styles to try out, allowing you to determine which vehicle best meets your needs.

Ability Center also rents accessible wheelchair vans for temporary needs.

When you are ready for a new vehicle, Ability Center will appraise your old van as a trade-in. Trade-in value is usually very good, but is of course dependant on a number of factors such as vehicle condition and mileage.
