This is Your Rampvan! – Complete Video Series
Posted by Jack on Friday, August 14th, 2009I hope you all enjoyed following Barbara Reed’s wheelchair van down the BraunAbility production line with an in-depth look at the Rampvan production process. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out all the photos on our Facebook page as well.
It’s been a busy week as Megan and I scrambled to keep up with production. We were both impressed at the speed and efficiency of the line – every one of the team members truly work together like a well-oiled machine, and the conversion of Barbara’s van went off like clockwork. I hope everyone came away with a new appreciation of the BraunAbility Rampvan Production Team and the fantastic job they do. On behalf of Ralph Braun, all BraunAbility employees and our dealers . . . thank you all for a job very well done!
While I’m thanking people, I of course can’t forget Barbara Reed. Just as everyone did in the videos below, let me again thank you for placing your trust in BraunAbility. I hope your new Rampvan gives you the freedom you’re looking for, and we can’t wait ’til you’re in the driver’s seat next week!
I’ve completed the edit of Day Four’s production, and I thought it would be nice to have all four videos to view in one place. These four videos will show you the production process from start to finish. Enjoy!

After having 2 Entervans hit and totaled, neither my fault in 2 and1/2 years I am now without a wheelchair van transportation at least until the Insurance company pays a reasonable amount I can really appreciate what I had these last 6 years. Also seeing “This is Your Rampvan” video series really gave me an idea as to what really goes into a van conversion. I wish all Auto Insurance companies had to see this and somehow be able to find some compassion in the amount they are willing to give. Instead they greedily use the lowest values they can find by Private party sales and it’s a shame that we have to fight for a fair settlement.
On a side note, on my last van I installed a simple hinge with a nylon foot on the ramp because it would grind against the concrete walkway sharpening itself which caused it to get stuck halfway down and not extend all the way. Perhaps you could use this idea or something similar on ramp’s leading edge to make it last longer and slide out easier. Also some way of making the ramp work on grass would be great too.

Hello Tom;
We started in 2007 to add a device that forces the ramp to complete most of the deploy cycle before the ramp gets close to the ground, causing it to completely (or nearly) unfold before it reaches the ground. This has stopped most of the scraping on the ground and has for the most part stopped it from digging in when unfolding on grass. I have been using the device since 2006 on a 2006 and now on a 2008. I have not had one incident where it failed to unfold all the way no matter what type of surface I deploy on. Not all 07 have the feature but later 07 and everything since then has the feature. i think you will like the improvement.
